This painting represents personal growth. We all change and morph into new versions of ourselves. I wanted to paint that moment, the moment you realise how much you’ve changed and how far you have come.

To some, sighting a hummingbird signals that challenging times are over and healing can begin. To others, these tiny fliers are an inspiring sign of hope and good luck. Hummingbirds also can have a spiritual significance and mean the spirit of a loved one is near.

Available to view at The Yard Holywood.

This piece was driven by the arrival of my son who was born with severe craniosynostosis. I wanted to create a piece that showed strength and resiliance. I wanted it to be gritty and quite noisy in parts, but have an overriding sense of beauty.
